Patient Preparation

  • No preparation required
  • Routine Xrays, Mammography, small part ultrasounds( breast, thyroid, scrotum, etc.)
  • Transvaginal scans, TRUS, Early and Late pregnancies, Colour dopplers.

Lab Investigations 
As directed by the referring physician, depending on the kind of test 
Upper Abdominal ultrasounds
Empty stomach  for 2-4 hours prior to the scan 
Whole abdominal scans 
Empty stomach  for two hours and a few glasses of water prior to the scan 

Pelvis, KUB, KUBP, lower abdominal, early pregnancy scans up to 11 weeks 
Few glasses of water before the scan, holding urine for 1-2 HRS You don’t need to be empty stomach for these scans 

Specialized Xrayslike I VP, KUB, LS SPINE 
Fasting with proper bowel preparation, as suggested by the physician 

HSG under anesthesia, barium studies 
Overnight fasting 
HSG , Urethrograms ,etc.
No preparation required
