the color Doppler is a type of ultrasonography that assesses blood flow through arteries or veins using high-frequency sound waves. It also goes by the name Doppler ultrasonography and uses colored pictures of blood arteries in different organs to look for vascular flow irregularities. Blood clots, abnormal heart valve function, blocked arteries, peripheral artery disease, vein or artery constriction, and arterial bulging can all be seen with color doppler ultrasonography. Depending on the organs or bodily regions that will be evaluated, a colour doppler test requires particular preparations. Color Doppler of the extremities (arms and legs) does not require any special preparations, whereas doppler scans of the abdominal organs require about eight hours of fasting (sips of water are permitted if certain regular medications need to be taken) and aortic or vena cava doppler requires six hours.
